Roblox Going Fancy: The Game’s Skins Are Officially Fashion

Roblox and British Fashion Council joined forces to bring awards for the best metaverse designs.

The British Fashion Council hosts annual ceremonies to award the industry’s best clothes-makers. And since the metaverse concept has been developing like crazy lately, a new category was added.

The innovative category will award the best metaverse designs, like clothes, skins, and cosmetics. The whole idea became real, partly thanks to Roblox.

So there were five nominees in total, which design esthetical content for the game. (The winner is cSapphire, by the way).

The ceremony itself had a whole virtual dimension of its own. First, visitors were invited to a grotesquely huge copy of London’s Albert Hall. The area, where the show took place, was open for exploration.

Second, there was a real show presenter — Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, who specializes in directing the creative evolution of the company. The Italian designer got his own digital avatar that rocked the signature mustache and an absurdly big hat.

While the event seems to be just a fun gimmick, it also proves that the metaverse concept becomes more cemented into the DNA of today’s gaming.

Recently. Fortnite launched a collaboration with Radiohead, inviting visitors to a virtual exhibition. There, you can explore the themes of sadness, loneliness, and misunderstanding perpetuated by the band’s A Kid Mnesiac double album.

As for Roblox, the popular “kiddie” game has been entering the Sims territory. It has dramatically evolved from a simple sandbox where you could make a stupid, but fun game with Lego aesthetics to an online world where you can hang with friends and boast of your dope outfit.

It seems, metaverse concept will be a new trend in the industry, as people still have to stay at home a lot. What do you expect next from Roblox? Let us know in the comments!
