Microsoft Fights to Keep Its Employees From Meta

Meta, which has recently stood off from Facebook, sets its goals to expand the metaverse concept. Of course, to proceed in that, the company needs to get more employees, and right now, it seems like the main workflow comes to it from rival companies Apple and Microsoft.

Microsoft is trying to keep together its HoloLens team, which formerly had around 1,500 people, but sadly, the number of workers has been going down lately. The reports say that near 100 employees have left the company, and over 40 of them switched teams for Meta.

On top of that, Microsoft has been busy with getting the promotional content for HoloLens, and moreover, the IVAS project the company has with the U.S. Army got postponed. The former team said that Microsoft reduced its hiring numbers, which resulted in problems with productivity on the IVAS. Right now, the company cannot afford to lose even more working power due to its rival companies.

This shortage may be critical to Microsoft, but the company is not alone in this fight for numbers. Such flow to Meta has also been noticed from Apple. The employees have been switching to the other side, but Meta is currently not giving any comments about the matter. We can only speculate as to why such changes are happening in the companies.

Microsoft is determined to expand its reach to the metaverse, but, as we can see, it might not be as successful as the company hoped. Meta is getting bigger with the team of engineers it received from Redmond, but the fight for leadership in augmented reality is still going. Currently, both companies are working on developing and improving VR devices to complement the metaverse.

Do you think Microsoft can withstand a race with Meta? What changes should the company make to bring more employees? Share your opinion in the comments below.
