Google Upsets Users by Changing White Noise

Google has changed the sound of the white noise on its Nest Hub. This decision upset users of Google Assistant Smart Displays, who loved to listen to it before sleep. Ambient sound has been changed this week and users continue to complain to Google.

According to the users’ reports, the sound was changed on Wednesday. You may listen to it by asking Nest “Hey Google, play white noise.” Although you will hear the sound, it will be different from the one you used to listen to before. For many users, it turned out to be a problem since they are used to the previous one. They call the new sound muffled and quieter. It also loops after 10 minutes of work, not after an hour as it was before. In total, the ambient sounds can be listened to for 12 hours without any timers. Nest Hub also offers to turn on the “auto-off” so the sound automatically stops when you fall asleep.

For now, there are over 100 complaints on Reddit and Google Nest Community. The number is growing. Some users uploaded the sound of the previous version that was changed. So, if you miss the usual sound, you can listen to it via YouTube. Many users are still hoping that Google will listen to their complaints and bring back the old white noise or add it into an option you can ask the Assistant to provide.

In total Google has 13 noises that send you to sleep or help you to relax. You can try nature sounds or forest sounds. There is even the sound of oscillating fan and country night. You may enjoy them on the Nest. If you still miss the original white noise, you can leave a complaint on the official website or on Google Home. There were no official comments from Google. The white noise is still on the list of available ambient sounds.
