WhatsApp Will No Longer Be Compatible with Some Older Smartphones

The team of WhatsApp made an announcement that the application will not work on a number of devices with older OS. The changes will take place on November 1, so it’s something to keep in mind if you have such devices. The minimal requirements to the system for WhatsApp to work include iOS 10, Android OS 4.1, and Kai OS 2.5.1.

If you are an active user of WhatsApp and you have concerns when it comes to your device, you should first make sure that your smartphone is updated. All you have to do to check the version of your OS is go to Settings and see if there are any updates available. The company mentioned that there will also be a number of devices that will also no longer support WhatsApp. In this case, the only solution is to get a different smartphone, but it’s a good idea to back up any messages you have so that you can continue as if nothing happened.

The devices that you won’t be able to have WhatsApp on include the following:

iOS

iPhone 4 and older models are no longer compatible with WhatsApp.

Android

There are many different Android devices that you won’t be able to install WhatsApp on.

When it comes to Sony smartphones, the models that are excluded from WhatsApp support are Sony Xperia Neo L, Sony Xperia Arc S, and Sony Xperia Miro.

For Samsung, the models are Galaxy Trend II, Galaxy SII, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Trend Lite, Galaxy Xcover 2, and Galaxy Core.
In the case of ZTE phones, the list includes Grand X Quad V987, ZTE V956, ZTE Grand Memo, and ZTE Grand S Flex.

LG has the most extensive number of devices that won’t support WhatsApp, such as Optimus F7, Optimus F6, Optimus L5 Dual, Optimus L5, Optimus L2 II, Optimus L4 II, Optimus F3Q, Optimus Nitro HD, and some others. For the full list, you should check out the information provided by WhatsApp.
