WhatsApp Is Working on a Big Update for Android Users

WhatsApp has made progress in implementing a new feature on the Android platform. It allows users to listen to voice messages upon switching to the other chats. Currently, when you listen to someone’s recording, you have to stay in the dialogue, if you go back to the main chat pages, the audio stops automatically. This update will allow messages to play in the background. This change seems to connect with the app’s latest goal to inspire users to send more voice messages.

The reports say that the 2.22.3.1 beta version for Android has had some references regarding a new global update. Although, the feature itself is still not in the app’s developer’s blog. Beta testers still wait to access this function.

There have been screenshots that might shed some light on the current update. Users can see the audio player interface with a set of buttons that can stop, resume, and dismiss the voice message currently active on the main screen. There is also a possibility that you can skip around the audio to pinpoint important information.

This feature is really handy if you have a lot of ongoing dialogues. Some reports claimed that it was mentioned on Apple’s devices updates in October of 2021. The update is still in progress, and the exact date of its release is unknown. Beta testing of the feature is also under question for both iOS and Android platforms.

Previously, WhatsApp presented the possibility to preview voice messages before sending and changed the overall look of the audios to waveforms. Right now, we can see that the app is working on improving its interface to bring more users to the platform and make the time spent in the chats more comfortable.
