Snapchat Tries NFT Integration to AR

Snapchat wants to increase the popularity of NFTs, mixing them with their favorite AR experience. Although the popularity of NFT was significantly decreased since it reached its highest peak in 2021, social platforms don’t give up. Both Meta and Snapchat try different approaches to keep NFT in trend. Their main goal is to attract more users to share their arts via social platforms.

Snapchat is planning to be the main app that supports the newly formed trend in NFTs. Famous for its love for AR, it was only natural that Snapchat came up with a curious idea. The company works on new tools that allow Snapchat users to convert the NFTs they own into AR Lenses. Later, the experience can be put inside the Snaps.

This new Snapchat tool will offer to turn the NFTs into three-dimensional art. Once the process is over, users will be able to wear this art as a face mask. This is common for all PFP projects. You will be able to create the art for the background or any extra object in the frame, up to your intentions.

It may sound superior, but in reality, this is only light integration, especially if you compare it to Twitter. This platform created a new option for profiles of NFT art owners. The new element added to the profile allows users to display the NFTs they own to everyone who stops by.

Snap offers more AR tools for NFTs owners. It looks like they are searching for a way to go to the next stage of digitalization. Meta is still focused on VR, and Snap is building new opportunities for users curious about AR. They continue to extend the possibilities inside the platform. AR glasses are just part of the strategy.
