Nintendo Does Not Plan to Raise Prices on Switch

According to Nintendo, there will be no raise in prices for Switch. The same statement has been already made by Shuntaro Furukawa, the company’s president during the meeting with shareholders. Nintendo stated that prices will not change in June, and they confirmed it several months later.

It looks like this product will not appear on the list of products that were affected by inflation. While there are lots of tech companies that declare their intention to raise the prices due to inflation, Nintendo is not one of them. The company has confirmed its plans in the official statement published by Eurogamer.

They cited Furukawa’s words during the 82nd annual general meeting of Nintendo shareholders. It happened in June. The president of the company said that there is no price increase in the plans. He also mentioned that he is not ready to reveal the current pricing strategies since they may change, but there will be no hike in Switch costs around the world, no matter the possible international inflation. As for the budget, they are planning to make changes in the strategy once all the possibilities will be considered. Furukawa also mentioned that the final price is still different from the company’s one, due to the retailers’ involvement.

The statement was made only a week after the market was shocked by the increase in the price of the PlayStation 5 console made by Sony. The company raised the price in Australia, the EU, the UK, China, Canada, Japan, and Mexico. Before that, there was a price increase on Meta Quest 2 VR. The company increased the price of the headset by $100. It looks like tech companies can’t hold the prices anymore at the same level.
