Instagram Wants to Give Reels a Boost by Paying Creators

It’s obvious that Instagram is serious about their Reels and wants to compete with TikTok in popularity. The company launched a bonus program to creators several months ago and now they offer quite impressive sums to some users who have a large following.

According to the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, the plan is to pay $1 billion to different creators in 2022.

According to TechCrunch, the biggest sum we know about at the moment is $35,000 to a creator that has a video on Reels reaching over 58 million views in one month. The information comes from one Reddit post, so it’s difficult to assess how truthful it is.

When it comes to smaller creators who cannot boast such a significant following, the sums they can expect are a lot humbler. For instance, one creator named Maddy Corbin has 52,000 followers on Instagram and she was offered $1,000 for her Reels video. At the same time, she mentioned that some people get even less. However, there are people who have fewer followers and are still proposing larger sums for views.

At the moment, it seems there are no strict rules on how much creators would receive for a particular number of views. It’s obvious that the company is still experimenting, so we can definitely expect significant changes to this system in the future.

It’s not just Instagram creators that get access to bonuses, but the same can be said about incentives for Snapchat and YouTube. In summer, YouTube mentioned paying up to $10,000 a month to users who record popular videos. As for Snapchat, the company created special Spotlight Challenges with varied money prizes to encourage users to film new videos. With the wild popularity of TikTok, it’s only natural that other companies have to do something new to stay relevant.

What do you think about such incentives? Please, share your thoughts in the comments below!
