Google Drive Now Has a New Convenient Search Feature

It has become easier to find files in your Google Drive thanks to the new search feature. Referred to as Search Chips, this function is reminiscent of search filters introduced to Gmail and it makes it possible to quickly find files that you are looking for. At the moment, this new function is in its beta state.

The company announced the new function in a blog post and the way it is supposed to work is very simple. When opening Google Drive, it will be possible to choose from a selection of filters. Once you start entering words in the search bar, there will appear a row of buttons over the results. The filters are interactive and they will suggest different search terms to make it possible to find files easier. Some of the filters that you will see include location, file type, tasks, title, people, and more. What is also great is that you can combine several filters for the most accurate results.

Because this feature is in its beta version, users have an opportunity to sign-up to use this function. The feature will become available to all users of G Suite Basic, Business, and Google Workspace.

Gmail started introducing new search filters for Android to help people find emails in September. With their help, finding specific letters on a mobile device has become significantly easier, as you can enter a timeframe, a name, and such. The search system avoids looking for letters in the trash or spam. Similar to the search chips introduced to Google Drive, this Android search feature will work for those who use Google Workspace, G Suite Business, or G Suite Basic.
