Exciting New Free DLC and Collectible VIP Bots Coming to Astro Bot
Astro Bot's creative team has exciting news regarding upcoming content for the game. Nicolas Doucet, the creative director, has announced that there will be complimentary downloadable content featuring a fresh assortment of VIP Bots that were previously noted in the game’s credits but have yet to be introduced in the main gameplay.
This announcement was made during an interview with the YouTube channel Quest Daily. Doucet mentioned that players can anticipate the free DLC, which is set to launch this year, along with new speedrun challenges and levels aimed at providing a greater level of difficulty. Additionally, new leaderboards will be introduced to enhance competitive play.
What's particularly intriguing is Doucet's indication that this DLC will include fresh collectible VIP Bots. These will feature some characters not yet integrated into the game. An analysis of Astro Bot's credits, as reported by VGC, reveals various game franchises acknowledged that do not appear in the existing version of Astro Bot.
For those who wish to avoid spoilers, it might be wise to look away now; the associated franchises include a variety of recognizable titles. Astro Bot shows a strong commitment to honoring the impressive legacy of PlayStation’s catalog. I was surprised to see lesser-known games like Devil Dice, Incredible Crisis, and Intelligent Qube referenced, although there are some significant absences like Final Fantasy and Twisted Metal that have not yet been included despite their presence in previous releases such as Astro's Playroom.
At this point, the specifics of Astro Bot's post-launch content roadmap remain uncertain. Nevertheless, given that it's ranked among the highest-rated games this year, it seems reasonable to expect Team Asobi to continue offering updates as long as the gaming community shows enthusiasm for the title.
