Discord Streamlines Its Communications with Forums, Homepages, and More
Discord is now testing a juicy bunch of new features designed to facilitate communications for users of this social audio and chat platform. Understanding that things are bound to become unwieldy at some point, as its servers keep growing, the company is adding three new features that should help make conversations on the platform more organized. The features include forums, new moderation tools, and homepages for the hottest and most trending topics. Below are some exciting details on each.
Forum-like channels. This feature equips servers with a forum-like channel that acts as a centralized hub for more streamlined conversations, where people can come and leave without missing out on anything that is of interest to them. With its help, Discord users should be able to monitor all new and significant conversations, as well as keep track of the old ones that are still relevant.
Homepages. Through this feature, users will be provided with an overview of the up-to-date content that holds much relevance to the particular community the person is in. It will be a significant improvement on how the servers are currently using dedicated news channels to update users on trending topics.
Automated tools for community moderators. The tool will likely be used to step up the efforts of the platform's moderation team in automating the welcome process for new users, checking for signs of inappropriate conduct, and even banning users who violate the rules.
For the time being, all three experimental features are going through closed beta testing, and Discord is yet to provide details on when they will be made available to all the users on the platform.
Are you looking forward to using the new forum and homepage features when Discord finally rolls them out? Share your ideas in the comments below!
