Homeworld: Vast Reaches Gets May 2 Release Date, Coming to SteamVR Later This Year

FarBridge has revealed that their new VR strategy game, Homeworld: Vast Reaches, is slated for release on the Meta Quest 2 and 3 platforms on May 2, with a subsequent launch on SteamVR later in the year. The game is now open for wishlisting on both the Meta Quest Store and Steam.

In Homeworld: Vast Reaches, players will assume the role of a human commander at the helm of a fleet of spacecraft. Given the VR format, the game aims to highlight the vastness and scale of the epic space battles reminiscent of those in past Homeworld series titles.

The title was initially announced earlier this month. While it functions as a spin-off from the main series, it's not yet clear whether it will directly tie into the original Homeworld games or the much-anticipated Homeworld 3. Nonetheless, the gameplay will allow for nuanced control over fleet positioning and tactical decisions. Additionally, players can adjust the scale of combat, from miniature, table-top skirmishes to expansive, room-wide confrontations.

Meanwhile, Homeworld 3 is still under development and anticipated to launch on PC on May 13. With these exciting developments, fans of the Homeworld series have much to look forward to in the realm of strategic space warfare.
